The deer in Alabama are safe

The deer in Alabama were able to breath a sigh of relieve this weekend when Keith extended his streak of "deerless" hunts. The weather wasn't exactly perfect for the second annual Crenshaw Christian Academy charity deer hunt in Luverne, AL but the hunt was still enjoyable. Strong winds and a tornado warning threatened to hamper the hunt, but it couldn't break the spirit of the hunters. The people of Luverne were real nice and kept the aspiring Bambi killers well fed with plenty of food and deserts cooked by the locals. Of the 40 hunters there were only 20 some deer taken. In addition to deer, wild hogs could also be shot. Local hunters acted as the guides for the mostly out-of-state hunters and took care of everything once the deer was shot including removing it from the field and taking it to the back of the local football field where it would be skinned and the meet was processed. After it was de-boned, the meet was put in a portable on-site cooler until you were ready to leave. Keith saw a total of 3 doe, 1 little button buck, 2 raccoons and 1 rabbit. However, unlike his Ohio experience he didn't shoot up the woods in Alabama. Except for some time at the firing range, the rifle wasn't even shot.

  • Keith, sounds like this was a real unique hunting trip. You was provided food by the local women and if you did shot a deer the locals would take care of everything.....and your Dad calls me a princess....LOL.
